Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour Jan 23rd: Wellness Roundtable

As consumers we are constantly inundated with new diets, workout trends, and “easy fixes” to lose weight fast and get healthy. That’s why I am bringing together three women from different wellness backgrounds so we can cut through all the garbage and get right down to what we need to be doing to better ourselves. As promised, on Monday, January 23rd during my Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour show, airing LIVE on Charlotte Community Radio from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, I am rounding out January with another episode focused on health and wellness. This will be my first forum discussion and it’s a great line-up.

Samantha Eaton of Healthy Eaton is a certified health coach who is extremely knowledgeable about the right foods to eat to keep you feeling and looking healthy with the added benefit of losing weight.

Sandra Weber of Integrative Bodyworks is a certified massage therapist whose expertise is chronic pain. Sandra teaches daily habits that help to reduce and eliminate consistent aches and pains.

Quinn Reynolds, owner/teacher of Arrichion Hot Yoga + Circuit Training, located in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Durham, has been an athlete all of her life but really felt a mind and body transformation when she began practicing hot yoga.

All three of these women bring their own set of wellness struggles and triumphs and hearing them share those experiences will be such a treat. Be sure to join me for a stimulating panel discussion on health and wellness on January 23rd.

Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour Jan 9th: Liz Hilliard & Clary Hilliard Gray-Hilliard Studio Method

Well, it’s January and like most, I am looking to make some positive changes. I am looking to push reset and get my mind, body, and psyche healthier. So my January Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour shows, airing LIVE every other Monday on Charlotte Community Radio, are going to be committed to health and wellness.

I have heard many people swear by the locally created and operated Hilliard Studio Method (HSM) for years and wanted to learn more. So I invited the co-creators (mother and daughter) Liz Hilliard and Clary Hilliard Gray onto the show. They started this studio nine years ago after Clary requested that her mom, Liz who was a Pilates instructor, help her get into shape for her wedding. Liz took this request to heart and researched all the cutting edge exercise and fitness techniques and they saw great results. This curiosity and commitment is what has continued to make HSM such a staple in the Charlotte fitness scene. The two recently visited New York City on a book tour and saw so much interest in their method that they are returning January 21st to host classes and see where that leads.

I had to put my money where my mouth was so I took the class and WOW! It’s not like anything I have taken before and my rumpus was kicked but I felt great. I look forward to talking to Liz and Clary live on Monday, January 9th at 7:00pm.

Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour Dec 12th: Entertainer, Ashley Harper

I think we’ve all considered going on reality television at some point, right? For me, I was 21. Thought I was interesting enough, had no immediate post-college plans, and wanted to move (somewhere sweet!) free of charge so I applied to The Real World. I wrote a paragraph about myself (which I hope to NEVER track down) and sent a photo. The response I got was that I would be more suited for The Bad Girls Club. Needless to say, my reality TV dreams never came to fruition but that has not made me any less curious about those whose do.

Ashley Harper (affectionately known as “Ashley from Denver”) gained notoriety for her appearance on Season 17 of ABC’s The Bachelor featuring Sean Lowe. Although Ashley wasn’t bestowed with the final rose, she has managed to stay busy.

Ashley is an accomplished singer, dancer, model, and motivational speaker to name a few of her endeavors. A North Carolina native hailing from Fort Bragg, Ashley took home the crown in countless beauty pageants and started print modeling at the age of eight.

In 2010, Ashley moved to Denver where she founded a nonprofit, L.O.C.A.L.. (Local Organic Community Awareness Lounge), that assisted the community in environmental justice. Her recent work has brought her back to North Carolina, and I am thrilled to have her in the Charlotte Community Radio studio during my Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour show on Monday, December 12th at 7:00pm.

Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour Nov 28th: Pink Social Girl Tribe Founders, Carrie Barker & Sarah Baucom

Sarah Baucom and Carrie Barker are the Charlotte natives behind the wildly popular and successful Pink Social Girl Tribe. What sets these two apart from everyone else that has a great idea is that they acted on it and continue to dream bigger.

Carrie and Sarah went to high school together and reconnected after college. Sarah confided in Carrie that she had dreams of owning her own boutique and Carrie said she would be happy to help with branding. Their ideas continued to evolve and became Pink Social, a boutique with many products inscribed with entertaining catchphrases. The business met great success in the first year and continues to grow.

Sarah and Carrie attributed much of their early success to the motivation they gave each other and wanted to find a way to share this with other women, and Pink Social Girl Tribe was born. What was started as a group for women supporting women has expanded to thousands of women and several pop-up events a year featuring dozens of female-owned businesses. Recently, Girl Tribe crossed state lines into Greenville, South Carolina and the first pop-up event is set for December 3rd. The next Charlotte-based, Girl Tribe Pop Up will be December 10th at Sugar Creek Brewery.

Monday, November 28th at 7:00pm on Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour, airing LIVE via Charlotte Community Radio, I’ll get the chance to talk to the women behind this sensation that has taken Charlotte by storm, and pick their brains about how they are seemingly able to have it all, as they are both young mothers, wives, and business owners.
