Queen City Comedy Festival Jan 27th: Funny Ladies of Charlotte

Facebook Image for That's What She SaidCharlotte Community Radio is a proud supporter of the very first Queen City Comedy Festival, hosted by Queen City Comedy and Acting Out Studio, scheduled for this weekend, January 27th through the 29th.

On Friday, January 27th at 10pm, I will be the Master of “Comedic” Ceremonies during the Funny Ladies of Charlotte. The two acts partaking in this specific show include That’s What She Said, a “longform show that allows you to see the world through our wacky eyes” and The Queen City All Stars of Comedy, “the best players from each of the top teams in Charlotte… featuring a Dream Team of the funniest women in the Queen City with members from Charlotte Comedy Theater, Improv Charlotte, Now Are the Foxes, Robot Johnson, Mom’s Adhesive, and more!” These two improv groups are the cream of the crop in Charlotte.

This truly is a full circle moment for me. Over a year ago, I shared my radio dreams with a fellow classmate of Charlotte Comedy Theatre who introduced me to Bridget B. Sullivan,  the founder of Charlotte Community Radio and here we are a year later!

I am honored to be emceeing this event and excited to take a peek back into the world of Charlotte’s comedy scene.

“Laughter is needed now more than ever, and this festival is intended to shine a spotlight on the fantastic comedy talent apparent in the Charlotte comedy community.”, says festival co-founder Cale Evans. According to festival co-founder Elizabeth Byland, “Some of the best improvisors and comedians in the country are right here in Charlotte. This festival provides a showcase for them, and a chance for the rest of us to just laugh for a weekend.” Queen City Comedy Festival

Funny Ladies of Charlotte starts at 10pm at Acting Out Studio, 8145 Ardrey Kell Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28277.
