Good stories surprise us. They have compelling characters. They make us think, make us feel. They stick in our minds and help us remember ideas and concepts in a way that numbers and text on a slide with a bar graph don’t, according to Shane Snow.
As a little kid, do you remember how excited you were to hear the story of the Three Little Pigs? Even though you knew what would come next in the story it still was a treat to see just how the narrator would recite the story. There’s not much difference in being an adult, everyone loves a great story. Being able to communicate, and even more specifically, storytelling is one of the keys to advancing in your career.
The next guest on my Charlotte Community Radio, LIVE Nine to Five show, is award-winning speaker Darnell Badger. He’s been fortunate throughout his career to meet many business leaders where he is able to deliver strong, motivating messages of strength and leadership. With 15 years of leadership experience as a salesman, financial professional, and youth leader, Darnell has storytelling down to an art. During the show, you can expect him to share with us why we struggle with storytelling, and he’ll also give us some tidbits on how we can use storytelling to advance our careers.
Listen to the show on November 29th at 6:45pm; Telling Stories With Darnell Badger In The Workplace.
