Theresa Payton is one of the foremost experts in our country when it comes to internet security. She held the position of CIO (Chief Information Officer) in the Office of Administration at the Executive Office of the President from 2006-2008 and is now the CEO and President of Fortalice, LLC, which she founded in 2008. Fortalice consults with government and private companies who lack the ability to forge their own technology security and provide evidence when necessary to bring charges when crimes have been committed. Before starting Fortalice, Theresa worked on new technology, increasing revenue, and fighting fraud within the banking industry for 16 years
Theresa wrote two books on cybercrime and how to keep control of your privacy online. She warns against the collection of “big data” and educates individuals and companies on being proactive about protecting themselves. A daily battle Theresa faces is the rapid pace of technology and the lack of legislation to keep up with the crimes.
Theresa has been featured nationally on Fox News and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. In 2010, she was named by Security Magazine as one of the top 25 “Most Influential People in Security.”
In this day and age of Instagram, Snapchat, and Pokemon Go it is paramount to know what information you, your family, and your company share with the online community and how to protect yourself. Theresa Payton is more than qualified to give us the tools and some guidance on how to do this during my next Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour show airing LIVE via Charlotte Community Radio on July 25th.
Not Your Boyfriend’s Radio Hour, hosted by Amelia Coughlin, airs every other Monday from 7:00pm to 8:00pm via CharlotteCommunity Radio.org, CLTCRadio.org or Mixlr.com/CLTCRadio where you can chat with our hosts.
