As we are well aware, there are too many people that suffer at the hands of sexual abuse. Many find it difficult to deal with the effects of such an invasive violation. Listen to The Listening Spot Monday, November 30th as I speak with Tamara Jefferies to discuss effective ways of healing and recovery after traumatic stress.
Tamara has been working in the field of somatics and trauma resolution for over a decade. Motivated by the distress she experienced while learning how many women in her life were survivors of childhood sexual abuse or sexual assault, she focused on a multi-tiered approach to healing that honors the mind, body and spirit. Tamara has led numerous support groups for survivors of sexual assault and created empowerment workshops for women. Her ability to empathize with her clients brings them quickly into rapport and a place of trust. From this space she works with women to reconnect them with the healing wisdom of their bodies. Utilizing breathing exercises, guided visualization, movement and yoga, Tamara endeavors to engage the aliveness in each woman and free them from the blocks that have held them back.
Tamara Jefferies, MA, CMT, CYT is a somatic based counselor in private practice in Lake Wylie, South Carolina. She holds a MA in Somatic Psychology from John F. Kennedy University, was certified as a Holistic Massage Therapist by the World School of Massage and Holistic Healing Arts, and certified as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher by the Kundalini Yoga Research Institute. She has taught yoga in the United States, Ghana, Peru and Brazil.
