The importance of an education through reading is fundamental to a child’s development. And getting books into the hands of future leaders and visionaries allows the access and potential to make a difference in the world around us. Join me, Genae Boyd, the host of The Listening Spot on Monday, September 14th as I chat with the founder and CEO of The Open Book Foundation about his vision for connecting children through the love of reading and books.
Established in 2013 by Carvent L. Webb III, the The Open Book Foundation strives to provide free books for low income schools, communities and outreach partners through donations. He even donated half of his book sale profits to supply books to teachers after writing his own book, A Guide to the Simple Life. The organization provides many different programs to help facilitate learning and helps to create leaders of children with reading challenges. The foundation also engages the community with the effort by providing opportunities to volunteer as mentors or ambassadors.
Mr. Webb will be joined by Vice President of operations Ryan Howell. Listen in as we hear the vision behind the organization, future endeavors, and ways to get involved with the movement.
