Join Becky Knight, local Charlotte sexologist, for another installment of her Oral Fixation show on Monday, September 7th, which also happens to be Labor Day. Although Labor Day is for celebrating the social and economic contributions of all laborers, we are going to focus on a special kind of laborer — the woman who brings a child into the world.
We know HOW babies are made, but how does trying to conceive, pregnancy, and new parenthood affect a woman’s body, body image, and sexuality? What happens when a couple can’t conceive? How does the woman’s spouse or partner feel? On the next Oral Fixation I will be joined by Lugenia Grider, women’s health educator and doula, to examine how women experience the changes in their body and how those feelings impact their relationships.
Lugenia is also a strong advocate for breastfeeding, especially among black mothers. Fresh off of celebrating Black Breastfeeding Week with an event at ImaginOn, she will discuss the obstacles that black mothers face and what resources are available in Charlotte to support those who choose to breastfeed.
Finally, we will discuss the FDA’s approval of Flibanserin, also known as the “pink pill”, and what it means (and doesn’t) for women who lack sexual desire — and those that love them. Is it worth getting excited about?
Oral Fixation with Becky Knight airs every other Monday from 9:00pm to 10:00pm on CharlotteCommunityRadio.org, CLTCRadio.org OR listen via Mixlr.com/CLTCRadio where you can chat with the host and guests as well.
