We had another successful Youth Radio Camp during the week of August 3rd. The Behailu Academy students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we’ve been asked to consider a 12 week, weekly class that works perfectly into our plans to produce youth focused programming. We’re still hashing out all the details so be sure to subscribe to our monthly newsletter, listen to upcoming announcements during our regularly scheduled programming, follow our social media activity, and/or keep an eye on our website for updates.
As always, none of our efforts thus far would be possible without the support of our current hosts, the Charlotte community, local business owners and other non-profit organizations that we have been fortunate enough to partner with. Specific to the Youth Radio Camp, we want to give a special thanks to Dave Harris of Studio B Mastering, Chris Garges of Old House Studios, Quincy Acklen of Maker Space Charlotte, Maria Hallowell of Noda Yoga, Monty Thompson of 100 Gardens, Lauren Schalburg of Noda News, Dennis Frost, host of Cuz’s Corner and a lead organizer for the Charlotte Folk Society, and Melvin Nix, a Charlotte Community Radio Station partner. Thank you for your willingness to participate in both of our Youth Radio Camps.
Each Youth Radio Camp ended with the students getting on air with their own radio show via Charlotte Community Radio. We are just about finished prepping both shows for replay and will share the link via our Facebook page, as a Tweet under our account @CLTCRadio and of course here on our website.
We’re still making magic happen with our internet-based radio station and we encourage anyone who would like to lend a hand to contact us and…
